As a leader, you have great instinctive ideas to better fulfill your company’s values-based mission. But without the right team surrounding you, those ideas can die right on the conference room floor.
To make sure your ideas become reality, you must get the right people around the table. When you intentionally participate in shared thinking, you’ll be able to come at your initial idea at many different angles and flesh out the details on making it happen.
When selecting who should be at the table, you’ll want to tap into the strengths, expertise, perspectives, and experiences of your team. Remember, you’re looking to develop leaders around you who have a similar instinct for growth and development that you do, but do not think exactly like you.
You’ll want to have a wide diversity of perspectives that can challenge and make your idea better. Individuals who value other’s thoughts, who appreciate the strengths of others where they may be weak, and place the team before themselves are qualities to look for.
Avoid choosing your idea team based solely on convenience or friendship. Your goal in making your idea become reality is to cultivate the idea to the highest degree. Who you invite to take their place at the table makes a difference.
