There’s no doubt about it. Change is hard. Transitions are difficult.
None of us actually like change. Unless, of course, the proposed change is your idea.
It’s natural to feel tension during times of change. Your resistance to change, no matter how open minded you may be, surfaces because you’re stuck in the uncertainty of learning a new skill set.
The skills that got you to where you are today are not the same skills that will see you through your transition to the next level. Give yourself some grace as you walk through your transition and recognize that there will be tension and stress during the process.
Through change, opportunities present themselves. You are learning new skill sets, no matter how big or how small, giving you new perspectives and connections which open doors for growth.
If you’re a leader of a team or an organization, you may be noticing some irritability within the ranks of your company. Your team is also feeling the natural resistance to change as they navigate through their uncertainty of their abilities and knowledge.
As they are stretching and growing into a new level, you have the opportunity to lead them through with encouragement, understanding, grace, and even tap into hidden talents that they may not even recognize.
