I choose joy

Whatever

“Joy, collected over time, fuels resilience – ensuring we’ll have reservoirs of emotional strength when hard things do happen.” Berne Brown

On the heels of yesterday’s tragedy in Texas and Ohio I’m reminded of the need to collect the joy of every day moments and be grateful for every precious minute. In a growth environment where I’m continuously looking for ways to improve I can sometimes forget to take joy in the now. To celebrate the masterpiece of each day and connect to the people that make it all possible.

So today I’m choosing joy and I’m focusing on the things I’m thankful for.

  • I’m thankful for my family, who are all safe in various parts of the country.

  • I’m thankful for a country that has people who are willing to sacrifice their life to protect us.

  • I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve others.

  • I’m thankful for the ability to contribute something positive to the world.

  • I’m thankful for forgiveness and not being remembered for my worst day.

  • I’m thankful for the kindness of others, people I know and strangers.

  • I’m thankful for peace that transcends circumstances.

  • I’m thankful for love and it’s ability to quiet any fear I have.

  • I’m thankful for patience that gives me and others the grace to bear with each others faults.

  • I’m thankful for goodness that tramples out hate.

  • I’m thankful for the faithfulness of those who stay in hard times when it would be much easier to leave.

  • I’m thankful for the gentle strength of those who give their lives for others.

  • I’m thankful for self-control and those that exert it at a time when it would be easy to lose control.

  • I’m thankful that joy gives us strength when we need it.

Whatever you focus on magnifies. Choose wisely.
